How to play Cricket Globe
Cricket Globe is a daily geography game for cricket fans: read five famous moments and tap the globe where each one happened.
The rules
- Read the moment, for example βWhere did Rohit Sharma score 264?β
- Spin and zoom the globe, then tap to drop a pin. Tap again to move it.
- Lock in before the 60-second clock ends. If time runs out, your pin is locked where it is, or the question scores 0 if you haven't placed one.
- The reveal shows the real ground, a line from your guess, the distance, your points and a short fact.
- After question 5 you get your scorecard, a grid to share, your stats and a countdown to the next round.
The map shows country codes such as IN, AU and GB, and state codes once you zoom in, but never city or ground names. Finding the right city is up to you.
Scoring
Each question is worth up to 1,000 points, so a perfect round scores 5,000. Distance is measured along the Earth's surface from your pin to the ground. Within 25 km you get the full 1,000 points; beyond that, points fall away exponentially. The curve is tuned for countries like India, where many grounds sit within 1,000 km of each other: picking the right city should feel rewarding, while picking the right country alone should not score near-perfect.
| Distance from the ground | Points | Share colour |
|---|---|---|
| On the ground | 1,000 | π’ |
| 25 km | 1,000 | π’ |
| 100 km | 898 | π‘ |
| 250 km | 725 | π‘ |
| 500 km | 507 | π |
| 1,000 km | 248 | π΄ |
| 2,000 km | 60 | π΄ |
| 5,000 km | 1 | π΄ |
Your share grid uses one coloured square per question: green for 900 points or more, yellow for 600 to 899, orange for 300 to 599 and red below 300.
Streaks, stats and the leaderboard
Everyone plays the same five questions on the same day, so scores are directly comparable. After your round you see where you rank among everyone who has played it and the average score so far. Your stats track rounds played, your current and best streak, and your best and average scores.
You can play without an account. To keep your streak when you switch phones or play on a laptop, add an email address on your stats page; there is no password, just a sign-in link.
Practice and answers
Want more than five questions? Practice rounds use moments from past games and don't count towards your stats. When a daily round has finished in every time zone, its answers appear in the answers archive, with a page for every moment and every ground.
Frequently asked questions
How many questions are there each day?
There are 5 questions a day, and every player gets the same ones. A round takes two to five minutes.
How long do I have for each question?
You have 60 seconds per question. If the clock runs out, your pin is locked where it is; if you haven't placed one, that question scores 0.
How is my score worked out?
Each question is worth up to 1,000 points. A pin within 25 km of the ground scores the full 1,000. Beyond that, points fall exponentially with distance: about 900 at 100 km, about 500 at 500 km and about 250 at 1,000 km.
When does a new round start?
A new round starts at midnight in your own time zone, so the daily puzzle number follows your local date.
When are the answers published?
A round's answers go live once that round has ended everywhere in the world, so searching can never spoil today's game.
How do streaks work?
Finish the daily round on consecutive days to build a streak. Missing a day resets it. Add an email to keep your streak on every device.
