Privacy policy

You can play Cricket Globe without giving us your name or email. This page lists everything we store, why, and how to have it deleted.

Last updated 20 October 2026.

What we store

An anonymous guest ID

When you play your first round, we create an anonymous guest account with a random ID, kept in your browser. It lets us remember your streak and stats on that device. It is not linked to your name. Guest accounts that haven't been used for 90 days are deleted automatically, with their rounds and stats.

Your guesses and scores

For each question we store where you placed your pin, how far it was from the ground, the points it scored and when you answered. We use this to score your round, keep your streak and stats, and show average scores on the public answer pages. Average scores never identify a player.

If you sign in with Google

Signing in is optional. It keeps your streak and stats on every device, and your guest rounds move onto your account. From Google we store only your name, email address, profile photo link and Google account ID, and we ask Google for nothing else. We use your name (or the display name you choose) and photo on leaderboards, and your email to recognise your account. Your country is stored only if you choose one in settings.

The daily leaderboard

If you're signed in, your total for each round is added to that day's leaderboard, shown with your display name and photo. Guests aren't on the leaderboard.

Your email for the Pro waitlist

  • Pro waitlist: if you join the waitlist on a quiz pack page, we store your email and the pack, and use them only to tell you when Pro is available.

Question reports

If you report a problem with a question, we store the report, any note you write, and your player ID.

Usage analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how the game is played: page views, and game events such as starting, finishing and sharing a round, how many points each answer scored, roughly how far away it was (in bands such as 100–500 km, never your exact pin), and signing in. Google Analytics sets two cookies and Google processes this data for us. We turn off Google signals and advertising features, and we never send Google your name, email or account ID. If you sign in and allow analytics, we send a random analytics ID stored on your profile, so your phone and laptop count as one player. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months.

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics only loads if you choose Accept. Elsewhere it is on unless you turn it off, and we treat the Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as off. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or any identifier.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
  • We don't ask for your name, phone number or location. The pin you place on the globe is your guess, not where you are.
  • We don't send marketing emails, except the one Pro announcement if you joined the waitlist.

Who processes it

These services run parts of Cricket Globe and process data for us:

  • Vercel: hosting and cookieless web analytics
  • Supabase: accounts, sign-in and the game database
  • Google: sign-in, if you choose it, and Google Analytics, if it's on
  • Cloudflare: Turnstile, which checks new guests aren't bots
  • Upstash: the daily leaderboard

Cookies and browser storage

Only the two Google Analytics cookies need your consent. Everything else is needed to sign you in, remember your cookie choice or keep the site safe.

Your choices

  • Analytics cookies: change your choice at any time with (also at the bottom of every page). It takes effect at once, and turning analytics off deletes the Google Analytics cookies.
  • Clearing your browser's site data removes the guest ID from that device. If you haven't signed in with Google, your stats can't be recovered afterwards.
  • Delete your account: signed-in players can delete their account in settings. This immediately removes your profile, rounds, stats, leaderboard entries and waitlist emails, and your sign-in.
  • To see or correct what we hold about you, or for any other request, write to cricketglobeapp@gmail.com.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and the date above. The rules for using the game are in the terms of use.
